Leveraging Social Media: Why Posting Your Show Flyer Isn’t Enough Anymore

If your entire social media strategy is slapping your face onto a JPEG flyer and adding “DM for guest list” every Thursday, we have a problem. And the problem is: nobody cares. Flyers are announcements, not content. In 2025, social media isn’t optional—it’s the digital handshake, business card, and audition reel, all rolled into one scrollable window. If you’re not using it well, you’re invisible.

At Mic Drop and Broken Drift, we work with comics to shift from flyer fatigue to actual engagement. That means creating videos, voiceovers, backstage reels, stand-up clips, green room chaos, Q&As, and authentic personality-driven posts. You’re not a static brand—you’re a moving, talking, occasionally sweaty creator. So show people that. Let them into your world. Comedy is deeply personal, and the more your audience sees you behind the jokes, the more invested they become in your success.

And yes—there is strategy involved. Choose 2-3 types of content you can sustain: maybe it’s weekly crowd work reels, or maybe it’s writing “day in the life” style captions that show what it’s like to bomb, grind, and thrive as a comic. You don’t need a ring light and a film crew. You need consistency, a little editing effort, and the guts to hit post. (Even when you hate your own face. We all do.)

Social media should feel like an extension of your set, not a weird résumé with no personality. Give people a reason to root for you before you ever hit the stage. That way, when they finally see you live? They’re already fans.
